Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on the summer addition of Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley.
Although Villa concluded the campaign with an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, it has been otherwise successful campaign in the Premier League.
Spanish coach Unai Emery has guided Villa to their first-ever appearance in the Champions League courtesy of finishing in fourth position in the standings.
As a result, Emery will now work diligently with the club’s recruitment team in order to make signings that make sense for the club at a time when they are somewhat restricted by financial regulations.
Villa have work to do in order to fulfil the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability criteria, even with the benefit of revenue that will come from the continent.
They are in a position where they may have to consider player sales in order to work themselves into a satisfactory state ahead of taking on more high-profile fixtures in 2024-25.
