It’s taken longer than probably anyone really expected, but Liverpool appear to have finally gotten their big attacking signing across the line with Bradley Barcola having arrived in England to undergo his medical and put pen to paper on his £125M move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Widespread reports today out of France have Barcola on the ground in Liverpool undergoing his medical before putting pen to paper on a five-year deal and officially becoming a Liverpool player that would see the Reds pay PSG around £105M up front plus a potential further £20M in add-ons.

While the price is unquestionably high for the 22-year-old French international winger who primarily plays on the left, in the current inflated market the Reds were left with no choice but to pay given last season’s wing issues followed by the decision to push legend Mohamed Salah out of the club.

After sporting director Richard Hughes sold Luis Diaz in 2025 without replacing him, the departure of the aging Salah—seen amongst the club’s upper management as not now being good value for his hefty contract—left the club in a position where they were desperate and everyone knew it.

As a primarily left-sided player, Barcola won’t be the positional replacement for Salah. From a talent and hoped-for contribution perspective, though, this is the big money forward move Salah’s departure was meant to lead to and expectations will be correspondingly very high for Barcola.
