Several Super Eagles stars have hit out at top officials for the team’s disgraceful 3-0 loss in Guinea Bissau.
They said there was no advance party to ascertain before hand the difficult local conditions, poor pitch and steaming hot weather, they encountered at the 2027 AFCON qualifier.
The players also complained about the travel arrangements to Guinea Bissau.
A source close to the players informed SCORENigeria: “The NSC/NFF failed to carry out investigations on the playing conditions in Bissau before the team’s arrival and this later led to several of the players opting not to play the match.
“Also, the players complained that while they are forced to travel in smaller planes for four, five hours causing fatigue, officials fly in planes with a lot more leg room and comfort.
“They said that while they have worked hard to put Nigeria on the world map, administrative and infrastructural shortcomings have often let them down.”
Nigeria’s qualification for next year’s AFCON is now hanging by a thread after they were roundly beaten by the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau.
They are now second in Group L with three points from two matches, three points behind leaders Guinea Bissau and with only the group winners to advance to the tournament proper as co-hosts Tanzania are also in this qualifying group.
