Liverpool’s number nine missed out over the weekend against Manchester United with a minor injury picked up the previous match, but head coach Arne Slot was keen to emphasize that it was a non-issue before the match and so not expected to sideline him for very long.

“Of course, very unlucky and unhappy with the fact Alex picked up a small – really small – injury,” Slot said of the situation. “That’s why this game came a bit too early. It wasn’t much but unfortunately it was too much for him to be able to play.”

With Liverpool looking to secure European football for next season, having Isak available against Chelsea this Saturday would be a book, and Slot has at least left it open to hope that the striker will be available for Liverpool’s next league game on the weekend.

“With Alex, it wasn’t much but unfortunately, it was too much for him to be able to play,” he added. “We are hoping to have him back next week but that is small margins.”
