Former Super Eagles forward Peter Ijeh has offered a scathing assessment of football affair in the Country, and has alleged that a ‘cabal’ is profiting off the Nigeria’s administrative misfortunes.
Speaking with Brila.net, Ijeh identified the lack of accountability to be at the heart of Nigeria’s Sports administration woes.
The former player who retired in 2012 and has since taking up Coaching roles in Sweden and is one of several Nigerians who hold top positions in global football.
Despite its export of highly qualified administrators and technical hands to Europe and around the globe, the standards have been poor back home.

Ijeh described Nigeria’s situation as grim. He also argues that Nigeria continues to lag behind its contemporaries on the African continent.
“The gap can’t be narrowed at this point in time, why? because the structure has to be in place.
“Now the problem is when there structure then there will be accountability.”
Saboteurs profit
He continues:
“Some people are making sure that the structure fails so that nobody can be held to account.
“While the football sector is struggling, a small section of people are profiting; they will do everything to make sure it does not work.
“If you look around Europe, Nigeria has the most learned – exposed, educated – scholars, but we still can’t fix this small fraction of problem. This world cup has exposed a lot of things.”
