The hope is that with this precautionary action Isak will be fit for the next Liverpool game after the international break and with that game being against Man City (should be some great chants from the Kop) everyone connected to the Reds will be waiting anxiously.
Since the 26/27 season began, Andoni Iraola’s new look Liverpool have been helped in the positive progress thanks to Isak finding his knack for scoring again and with Lewis Koumas seemingly the only other option beyond possibly Cody Gakpo it wouldn’t be ideal if the injury is more serious than first thought.
When the press asked Sweden’s international team’s manager Graham Potter about Isak’s injury he suggested it was a minor thigh issue.
“He’s got a small problem with his thigh, It’s not a big one, but because of the amount of games we’ve got in a small space of time, he won’t be able to make those.”
I can also imagine someone from Liverpool called Sweden’s manager Graham Potter to suggest Isak was brought back to the AXA Training Center for a proper assessment of the thigh injury. It was also reported that he had a bloodied toe or foot after the match against Romania but that’s not the problem which is seeing him leave Sweden’s team camp early.
These are the gifts that international breaks continue to give but with a bit of luck Isak will be fine and no other players will return from international duties injured and in the case of Florian Wirtz he may come back playing better after three weeks with Jurgen klopp.
Wirtz was going to only play in two of the four games as Klopp put two full sides together but Havertz and Jamal are both injured so now, reportedly, Wirtz has been brought into the team for the second game which takes place later today when Germany face Greece in what should be a good match.
